Corvin's Breed

Corvin's Breed is an Industrial metal band based out of Providence, Rhode Island. I was formerly the keyboardist and backing vocalist of the band and during my time in the band, I was commissioned for some graphic design work into the band which included a recreation of the logo as well as some merchandise designs for the band.

Justin Symbol "F**kboi EP"

Never thought that a quick 15-minute sketch would turn into an EP cover. One day over the summer of 2017, my dear friend and musical partner Matty messaged me asking if I'd kiddingly draw Justin Symbol. Turns out a few hours later I get a message from Justin and he had asked me if he could use my artwork on the album. I agreed and he asked if I would design the front and back cover as well as the CD itself, he had asked me if I could make it look raw.

Considering Justin wanted me to create pieces that incorporated his old self he asked if I would use saturated colors with raw ink lines. Material wise I used Microns in .01, .03, .05, I then colored them in using Prisma colored pencils. Justin had given me reference pictures which he wanted things to look aesthetically but left the rest to me. All the typography was hand rendered by me as well in which he instructed me on how he wanted each song title to look.  Below I have left the original sketches before I edited them in Photoshop to Justin's needs.

Album Art

For this project, I was tasked with using a made-up musician to create album art for said artist. In order to start, I began to empathize with whom this artist's target audience was and what was being conveyed through the music being presented. I began sketching and researching and it came down to an electronic noise project. I began by illustrating, hinting lots of inspiration from Japanese horror artist,  Junji Ito. Since I was restricted on time and knowing the attention to detail artist I am, I had asked Juliana Gambach if she would shoot pictures of me. I brought in makeup and my stage attire for Corvin's Breed and Juliana shot the pictures for the album art, I then went into Photoshop and edited the images to then add them to the album art layout. I created a poster, inserts, and business card to go with the album.

Fear Factor

For this project, I was tasked with visualizing a fear of my own. I am afraid of losing control to the brink of insanity so I selected Dementophobia "the fear of losing control". After determining the fear, I began conceptualizing what visuals would best portray this fear and came up with this demonic entity drenched in blood with blacked out eyes and reddish scleras(naturally my scleras were red from having the black contacts in all day). Materials used for this included makeup, baby powder, faux blood, and me losing my mind while these photos were taken. Photos were taken by Jake Masi.

Ray Gun

For this project, I was tasked with creating a piece inspired by the punk/grunge scene. The point of Ray Gun is breaking the rules and not conforming to the usual visual aid. I chose to do four bands AFI, The Misfits, My Enemies & I, and Old Wounds. These four bands, especially AFI, have driven me to be the person I am today, they gave me peace and acceptance to who I am. Majority of the images I developed were created through photocopying, deconstructing typefaces, lots of India ink, and other recycled materials. My ideas came from the lyrical content of the bands as well as punk/emo show fliers.

Tim Burton Infographic

For this project, I was tasked with creating an informative graphic with a topic that I cared about. My original thinking was Johnny Depp and Tim Burton but soon realized there wasn't enough content on the subject, so instead, I chose Burton as a whole. First, I decided on Burton and why Burton, the overall goal is to convey a sense of how Burton seems in a humorous way while still sticking to his aesthetic. After doing my research, I began drawing out images on Illustrator with a wire frame and then images that would be in the graphic.

Beverage Campaign

For this project, I was tasked with creating a beverage campaign with my own original ideas. My original thinking was called IMP, but I later scratched that idea and formulated Black Daze, which was inspired by an Old Wounds song. First, I decided who my target audience was, then I began researching why they'd consume my beverage. After doing my research, I began sketching out ideas and finding recipes for drinks as well as names for each beverage.

Multimedia Logo

Surface Design

For this project, I was tasked with creating a set of three articles of clothing that incorporate original ideas and designs. To begin I researched a select few of my favorite designers and then figured out who my target audience is as well as why they’d want to wear my articles of clothing. From there, I began hand drawing all my concepts with India ink on watercolor paper.

Senior Project

My client was a Millville based thrash metal trio entitled Soul Trap. The band is heavily inspired by the Elder Scrolls and Dungeons and Dragons as we as older thrash metal bands such as Death and Cannibal Corpse. My initial consultation with Miles, the vocalist/guitarist was essential to discuss what the band was in need of in which a new logo was essential, promotional material, updated photography for their social media handles, and a live video at the News Cafe. I first made some sketches for the video, which just showed camera angles and a rough idea of how the venue may look, not really thinking of the crowd response, but as I was visualizing I also created a logo using India Ink, which I made 20-30 before the band decided on the one. In November I headed out to the show in Pawtucket and recorded their new song "Druid" at the News Cafe, I got the angle that I was hoping for but had little mobility considering it was a metal show and I wanted to avoid the crowd at all costs. From the video, I began editing it but also working on logo tees and banners for the band as well as a promo poster for their New Year's Eve show. Later in about January, I revisited with the band to take their promo pictures, which are posted to their social media handles as well as a facebook banner with their logo and promotional pictures.

Sales Catalog

For this project, I was tasked with creating a sales catalog of my choosing while taking photos for the said catalog. I skateboard when I'm not at school and it just so happens some of my friends do as well, so after conception, some names and identity my friend Connor and I scoped out some skate spots and I took photos of him for the catalog. After those photos were developed I began designing the logo and the front and back covers while gathering content from skate warehouse and ccs. Then, as assigned I took photos of my skateboard equipment and apparel that could easily be incorporated, and edited them to look more "broke-tique" and added them to my catalog. I also developed a sales sheet and ad to put in to the catalog.
